What is College, Career and Life Readiness?

A progression of knowledge and skills leading to credentials, certificates, and/or college– whether that is a one-year, two-year and/or four year degree program.
- COLLEGE is an educational training opportunity beyond high school. This may include credentials, certificates, military service, and/or college – whether that is one-year, two-year, and/or four-year degree program.
- COLLEGE Ready: Students meet academic indicators, standardized test benchmarks, and complete credit-bearing general education courses or a certificate program without remediation.
- CAREER Ready: Students have explored and identified a career interest and possesses sufficient foundational knowledge, skill and general learning strategies necessary to begin studies in a career pathway
- LIFE Ready: Students leave high school with grit and perseverance to achieve their goals, as well as possess growth mindset that empowers them to approach their future with confidence.

College & Career Readiness Services
Advanced Placement Program
The Advanced Placement Program provides students the chance to tackle college-level work while they’re still in high school—whether they’re learning online or in the classroom. And through taking AP Exams, students can earn college credit and placement.
Accelerated Learner Services
Accelerated Learner Services provides academic support and resources to identified gifted and high ability students. This is accomplished by finding advanced and personalized programming options based on academic need, providing advancement and enrichment opportunities, and aiding in selective college admissions and scholarship processes.
Career & Technical Education
Career and Technical Education (CTE) maximizes student learning with real‐work knowledge and skills. Students are provided with challenging academic and technical content, that fosters strong relationships with industry and higher education. CTE courses fulfill high school graduation requirements, allow students to develop leadership skills, earn industry certifications, and dual credit in their fields of interest.
RCAS Academies & Pathways
In fall 2020, RCAS will offer several pathways organized into six Career Academies, as well as a Freshman Academy, tailored to our regional needs. Each academy includes one or more career pathway programs as well as an advisory board comprised of education and industry leaders.
School Counseling
Our school counselors engage with all students, challenging them to push beyond limitations to achieve rigorous academic, personal, and post-graduation goals. They empower students to be successful now and to approach their diverse futures with confidence.
Work-Based Learning
Work-based and career-connected learning opportunities allow students to make real-world connections to the content they are learning in school. These opportunities are a great way for students to directly interface with industry professionals and learn first-hand the demands, expectations, and preparation needed for a career in industry.
Service & Leadership
The Service & Leadership program provides guidance and support to young people as they plan, implement, and expand projects that benefit the community. Service & Leadership empowers young people to share their voice, create change and develop leadership skills that will prepare them for success with their educational and career goals.
