What We Do
Our school counselors engage with all students, challenging them to push beyond limitations to achieve rigorous academic, personal, and post-graduation goals. They empower students to be successful now and to approach their diverse futures with confidence.

The school counselor is an essential part of the success at each of our buildings. They work with all students, developing personal and social skills, providing strategies for academic success, and planning for life after graduation.

Our school counselors do not provide therapy or long-term counseling in schools; however, they are prepared to recognize and respond to student mental health needs and to assist students and families in seeking resources.

All of our school counselors have completed a minimum of a Master’s Degree that is specifically aligned to counseling within schools and are certified by the South Dakota Department of Education.
