Justina Schmelz Receives National Board Certification in School Nursing

Justina Schmelz received her National Board Certification in School Nursing!

National Board Certification in School Nursing is the highest national standard of school nursing. It is a formal recognition of advanced knowledge, competence, and a personal commitment to excellence in the specialty practice of school nursing. Certification validates school nursing knowledge and clinical skills, shows commitment to students’ health, safety, and education, gains recognition for school health expertise, and elevates the school nurse profession. This certification involves great dedication and requires a lengthy qualification process and formal examination. Justina Schmelz, our second National Certified Nurse, is one of only nine nurses in the state of South Dakota to have achieved this level. Her accomplishment is a source of pride and inspiration for our entire school community. Justina has been a nurse for 17 years and has spent the last 8 years as a school nurse at Valley View Elementary and East Middle School. Congratulations Justina!
