Rapid City FFA attended the SD State FFA Convention in Brookings on April 15-17. Thirty-five members from Rapid City joined nearly 2000 other members from across the state. Our teams included Agricultural Mechanics, Biotechnology, Floriculture, Horse Judging, Livestock Judging, Natural Resources & Vet Science. Members were also able to take in workshops, package meals for Meals of Hope, attend sessions, walk through the career carnival and mingle with other members.
Here are a few highlights:
-2nd place horse judging team
-3rd place Biotechnology team
-4th place Vet Science team
-6th place Natural Resources team
-Margaret Wilson – 10th place in Biotechnology
-Colton Riley – 9th place in Natural Resources;
-Brooke Schoonover – 9th place in Vet Science
-Colton Riley, Seth Shorb & Bridger Johnson received the highest degree members can receive at the state level – their State FFA Degree
-Colton Riley & Seth Shorb both received scholarships from the SD FFA Foundation
-Colton Riley also signed a Letter of Intent to teach Agriculture Education
-Colton Riley was elected as the 2018-2019 South Dakota State FFA President! (Rapid City hasn’t had a state president since 1996).
