This year, as part of a pilot project, Strider partnered with Black Hawk Elementary School. The company wants all kids to have an opportunity to learn to ride a bike. The pilot was a success. Beginning next year, every elementary school in the Rapid City Area Schools will have a set of 25 Strider bikes. Kindergartners will have the opportunity to ride the Striders during PE class.
According to Strider, the percentage of students riding their bikes to school has dropped from 48 percent in 1969 to 13 percent in 2009. That’s something Strider hopes to change … starting right here in Rapid City.
