Kindergarten Screening Times

Rapid City Area Schools (RCAS) is excited to welcome the incoming kindergarten class for the 2025–2026 school year! To ensure a smooth and supportive transition into elementary school, RCAS will hold Kindergarten Screenings at various elementary schools across the district beginning this April and continuing through August 2025.

These screenings are an essential first step in helping staff understand our youngest learners' academic, physical, and emotional readiness. Appointments are required at most locations, though some schools will accommodate walk-ins.

Screening Dates & Locations Include:

  • General Beadle: April 10 & August 7, 2:00–7:00 & 2:00–5:00 | Call 605-394-1841

  • Wilson: April 23, 1:00–4:00 (walk-ins only, first come, first served) | 605-394-1837

  • Blackhawk: May 6, 8:00–11:30 am | By appointment: 605-787-6701

  • Grandview: May 7, 8:00–2:30 pm | By appointment: 605-394-1829

  • Robbinsdale: May 8, 8:00–3:00 pm | Appointments and walk-ins welcome: 605-394-1825

Unless otherwise noted, families should call their child's school to schedule an appointment. If you would like more information, you can visit the RCAS website or call your school using the contact information provided.

To make sure that the process goes smoothly, please bring the following:

  • Birth Certificate

  • Social Security Card

  • Immunization records

  • Proof of address- Utility bill, lease agreement
