**Updated 5/25/20

We will continue to feed kids similarly to how we have been during COVID-19 school closure. This summer, we will also feed adults (while grant funding is available) and seniors (all summer). Please see below for more info.

Between our schools and our mobile feeding sites, we will serve meals at a total of 10 locations throughout the 2020 summer. Please check out the info below as well as the RCAS Facebook Page for site details.

WHO

  • RCAS will serve FREE breakfasts and lunches to children under 18. Children do not have to be enrolled in Rapid City Area Schools to participate.

WHAT

  • Meals are cold, grab-n-go breakfasts and lunches and frozen lunches to be cooked at home.
  • We will serve three times a week on Mondays, Wednesdays, and Fridays. We provide multiple breakfasts and lunches at one service to ensure kids have adequate meals, while maintaining as much social distancing as possible.
  • If meals are not eaten immediately they should be stored in the refrigerator.

LOGISTICS

  • Meals will be served in a “drive-thru” fashion outside of schools’ main entrances.
  • Please *do not* get out of your car. Instead open your trunk and meals will be placed there.
  • Those who walk to our sites are encouraged to maintain social distancing.
  • Children must be present to receive meals.

Black Hills Area Community Foundation

We will feed all adults (19-59) accompanying a child to our sites a meal at no charge until grant funding is depleted.

Meals on Wheels

We will feed all grandparents (60 years +) accompanying a grandchild to our sites a meal at no charge. Once grant funding is depleted, adults can enjoy breakfast for $2.50 and lunches for $4.50.

Feeding South Dakota

We are partnering with Feeding South Dakota and their Summer Back Program to hand out backpacks of non-perishable food to kids at the end of the week at some of our sites. Please visit Feeding South Dakota’s website for more details.

FAQ’S

Can adults eat at our sites?

In an attempt to feed more children in Rapid City, the Nutrition Services department applied for a Food Security Grant through the to feed adults (19-59) accompanying their child(ren) to our sites. We will feed adults until grant money is depleted.

As always, seniors (60+) accompanying grandchild(ren) to our summer feeding sites, can still receive a meal at no charge throughout the whole summer – thanks to our partnership with Meals on Wheels.
