Who Are We?
Title VI Indian Education is an office under the Department of Diversity, Equity and Outreach comprised of a driven group of educators, administrators, parents, and community advocates serving the Rapid City Area Schools. Our team combines Lakota language teachers, paraprofessionals, Oceti Sakowin Essential Understandings teachers, and social workers to further curriculum development, training, teaching, and social/emotional learning rooted in cultural responsibility for our students, families, and staff in the district.
We also work closely with a Parent Advisory Committee (PAC), who serves as an advisory committee for Title VI Indian Education. The PAC Board meet on a regular monthly basis and provide some family engagement activities throughout the school year.
Is my student eligible for Title VI services?
To be eligible for Title VI support services, you will need to submit a Title VI ED 506 Indian Student Eligibility Certification Form Form to Rapid City Area Schools. You can submit the form to your student’s school or to the main district office building (Attn: Whitnee Pearce or Kerri London) located at 625 9th St. Rapid City, SD 57701. Please read more to determine if your student qualifies for services under Title VI.
