A special election is planned for February 25, 2020. At that time, voters who live within the RCAS boundary will vote to support or reject a bond for $189,553,000. The funds will be used to build and renovate school facilities.
As many people know, a Task Force convened 18 months ago, and developed a proposed facilities plan that addressed primary needs in four areas:
• Aging and deteriorating building
• Safety and security
• 21st Century learning environments
• Capacity and future growth
Here is the plan:
Once again, the cost to do all the projects in the plan is $189,553,000. With this proposal, property taxes would increase by 85¢ for every $1,000 in valuation. More simply put, on a $250,000 home, the tax increase would be $212.50 per year and roughly $17.70 per month. The bond will be repaid over a 25-year period.
